AÇEV: Mother Child Education Foundation

Planning a Global Strategy

SHARING A DEEP INTEREST in advancing a global early childhood agenda that will make a measurable difference in the lives of vulnerable, young children, the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University and the AÇEV: Mother Child Education Foundation based in Istanbul, Turkey, have launched a two-year collaboration.

The Center’s founding international partner, AÇEV, is internationally renowned for its efforts to advance a knowledge-based approach to improving the lives of young children, mothers, and families, especially in developing nations and countries with emerging economies. The Center on the Developing Child generates, translates, and applies scientific knowledge in the service of closing the gap between what we know and what we do to support positive life outcomes for children in the U.S. and around the world. This partnership represents the Center’s first step toward establishing an explicit strategy to leverage the science of early childhood development to improve policies and practices globally.

In the first phase of this collaboration, the partners will launch an international planning effort to promote the health and well-being of vulnerable children by:

  • establishing a working group of Harvard-based experts and thought leaders from around the world;
  • promoting ground-breaking, new research with international implications; and
  • defining the parameters of the Center’s strategy to maximize its global impact.
